Every year we are committed to donating a minimum of 1% of our profits to the planet and at least another 1% of our profits to people.
Ekoluxe & our sister brand Love Khaos were founded with the core values of social responsibility and environmental sustainability. We knew that it was vital to place a social mission in equal importance to our product and economic missions because we believe that business has a responsibility and a unique opportunity to be a powerful lever of change in the world. We make this vision a reality by using our profits to give back to causes we're passionate about.
You Shop, We Give Back
We have picked philanthropies to contribute to based on their alignment with our core fundamentals. We, as a business, believe that replacing the resources we use should be mandatory so we give back to the planet. We think individuals and companies should act in the best interest of their society so we do our part by giving back to the community. Rest assured we only support registered charities and programs whom we have personally vetted with the help of Charity Navigator.
1% for the planet, Environmental Sustainability:
We offset our entire carbon footprint by purchasing VERRA certified carbon offsets. We support two programs: For Peat's Sake, a carbon sequestration project in Indonesia and AgroCortex REDD+, an award winning project that prevents deforestation in the Amazon rainforest.
For Peat's Sake is the largest carbon project in the world. It protects 157,000 hectares of land in Katingan, Borneo, Indonesia that is sustainably managed as a home to local communities and endangered animals. It reduces 7.5 million tonnes of CO2e each year, for a total of 447 million tonnes over the 60-year project period.
AgroCortex REDD+ is located in the heart of some of the most threatened forests on the planet and an important biodiversity corridor that connects the Andes to the Amazon, this project was the winner of the best Carbon Offsetting Project of 2020 in the Environmental Finances Voluntary Carbon Awards. In addition to being a safe haven for over 400 species of birds, this project also generates positive social and economic impacts in one of the poorest areas of Brazil.
1% for people, Social Responsibility:
Our commitment to humanitarian causes runs deep. Each year, we carefully assess global needs and direct our charitable donations to organizations addressing the most pressing crises. As world events evolve, so do the causes we support, ensuring our contributions have maximum impact where aid is urgently required. Over the past few years, we have proudly supported these remarkable charities and their vital initiatives.
2024
For the past 5 years, Haitian families have faced extreme hardships - political and civil unrest, food/water insecurity, economic instability, COVID-19, a devastating earthquake, and acute unrest due to gang violence, fuel shortages, and government collapse. This has disrupted education, forced business/hospital closures, and caused severe scarcity of basic needs, sparking mass migration to southern Haiti, straining resources. We donated to Hope for Haiti because with their 150 local staff, they are well-positioned to implement humanitarian aid and development programs, and collaborate with agencies and grassroots leaders to address short and long-term needs during this crisis.
2023
In the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Illinois emerged as a critical haven for reproductive rights as virtually all surrounding states moved to outlaw or severely restrict access to abortion services. Recognizing the immense strain this would place on providers like Planned Parenthood of Illinois, our donation aimed to bolster their capacity to meet the surging demand from out-of-state patients. As the closest option for many across the Midwest, Illinois clinics faced an influx of those seeking essential reproductive healthcare. By supporting Planned Parenthood's vital work, we hoped to preserve access to comprehensive services for those navigating an increasingly restricted landscape, while advocating for the fundamental right to bodily autonomy during this precarious time.
2020 - 2021
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic we donated thousands of PPE masks to hospitals in California and the Navajo Nation. We also donated cloth masks to 6 other Native American tribes across the South West.
2020
Our donation to Black Lives Matter was made to support their vital efforts in dismantling systemic racism and advancing meaningful policy reforms. We firmly stand alongside their mission to safeguard the lives, dignity and constitutional rights of Black Americans, while tirelessly advocating for racial equity across all facets of society. By contributing to this crucially important movement, we hope to catalyze tangible progress towards a more just and inclusive nation.
